Activity Types and Automation
The Odoo 17 CRM Module now offers the ability to schedule various customer actions across all sales and management modules, thanks to the “Activity Types” option in the “Configuration” menu, simplifying the configuration of different activity types.
The Activy Types window displays activities with data like “Name,” “Default Summary,” “Planned In,” and “Type.”
- Helps us to create and manage new activities by clicking the “New” button.
- Activity name can be adjusted in the “Name” box.
- The “Action” section offers various actions for commercial firms.
- Actions include “Upload Document,” “Meetings,” “Phone Call,” “Request Signature,” “Grand Approval,” “Reminder,” and “Tax Reports.”
Creating An Automating Activity
The section helps us with document upload and activity management
- Set “Action” to “Reminder” in the Activity Setting section.
- Enable trigger-specific behavior and automatic completion of activity.
- Apply the “Default User” name and “Default Summary” to the activity.
- Choose “Suggest Next Activity” or “Trigger Next Activity” as a “Chaining Type” action.
- Suggest the next action using the mandatory “Next Activity” option.
- Present previously designated action when the current activity is finished.
- Enter the “Trigger Next Activity” activity in the “Trigger” section.
- Schedule activities with relevant customers and use email templates in the “Email Template” area.
Creating New Activity Types in Odoo
- Specify the action’s due date in the “Schedule” field.
- Determine completion time in days, weeks, or months.
Follow the steps for creating new activity types.
The “Action” box indicates the action to be completed, which triggers an automatic trigger activity. This can be created directly from the Kanban view of Opportunities in the “My Pipelines” window or using the “Configuration” option.
Pipeline Data Management
Lists all available leads in the Kanban view.
- Leads are categorized by stage: “New,” “Qualified,” “Proposition,” and “Won.”
- Data items include Opportunity, Phone, Contact Name, Revenue, Priority, and Tags.
- Data can be viewed separately from the Kanban view.
Schedule Pipeline Activities
- Click on the activity icon in Kanban view.
- Select “+Schedule an activity” from the wizard’s menu.
- The Wizard form opens for activity information.
- Use the “Summary” option to explain the activity.
- Designate a representative and set a deadline.
CRM Schedule Management
Include “Activity Type,” “Due Date,” “Assigned to,” and “Summary” in the schedule activity box.
Then, view your scheduled activities in the pipeline by clicking the clock icon that provides users with access to all scheduled activities.
Pipeline Activity Management
- Clicking the Activity symbol opens the dropdown box.
- Marking activity as done and future plans available under Schedule Activities.
- Feedback can be added via the “Write feedback” section.
- Marking a task as completed by clicking the “Done” button.
- Planning the next task using the “Done & Schedule Next” option.
My Activities Menu
The “My Activities” option under the “Sales” menu helps you to manage and keep track of all the tasks assigned to you.
Chatter Section Overview
- Displays scheduled activities.
- Utilize the “Mark Done” feature to mark the activity completion.
Activities Reporting

- Graphic view for monitoring business process leads.
- Utilize the “Activities” option for easy monitoring.
Activity Plans
Allows completion of job or procedure stages like employee onboarding, offboarding, project establishment, quotation production, and sales transactions.
- The “Activity Plans” option in the “Configuration” menu allows for setting up distinct activity plans for various CRM-based tasks.
- Predefined plans are displayed in the “Lead Plans” window.
The Lead Plans window provides Name, Steps Count, and Department.
The “New” button allows the creation of new activity plans.
Here is where I have created a lead strategy for creating a new quote. Therefore, in order to complete or start a new quote, we must complete the actions listed in this Activity Plan.
Activity Plan Creation
- Change the “Plan Name” column to “Company” for activity identification.
- Add more actions by clicking “Add a line” in the “Actions To Generate” tab.
- Select desired “Activity Type” and adjust related “Summaries.”
- Designate the activity assignment type in the “Assignment” box.
- Designate the responsible person in the “Assigned To” section.
- Provide task-related “Notes.”
A new activity plan can be created in two simple steps, with multiple phases based on your needs. After saving the plan data, use the “Activity” symbol on the Kanban card of a quote or pipeline within the CRM Module to create a new activity.
By selecting a Pipeline and clicking the “+Schedule an activity” button, we may plan an activity. The form for scheduling an activity will follow.
Activity Plan Selection Process
- Choose an activity plan by checking the “Plan” box and entering the plan date.
- Plan summary appears under the “Plan Summary” section.
- Adjust the “Assigned To” box to fit company needs.
- Verify activity and select “Schedule.”
- Quotation configuration form page displays scheduled activity information.
The kanban view of a specific quotation provides a concise summary of the task, enabling the identification of any additional stages and execution of the action.
