How to Create Lead in Odoo 17 CRM

In today’s CRM landscape, effective lead management is crucial for business success. Odoo 17 CRM is a robust platform designed to streamline the lead management process, helping transform prospects into loyal customers. This guide explains the process of creating leads within Odoo 17 CRM. Effective lead management is like planting a seed in a potential customer, and with consistent nurturing, it can grow into a lasting relationship. Odoo 17 CRM, an ERP solution, is an ideal tool to help businesses navigate this journey from lead to loyal customers.

The Power of Odoo 17 CRM

Odoo 17 CRM simplifies lead management by allowing users to create, track, and convert leads into valuable opportunities. A lead in Odoo CRM is more than just contact information; it represents potential partnerships that could develop into successful customer relationships. The platform simplifies managing leads, quotes, sales teams, and lead mining requests.

Activating Leads in Odoo 17 CRM

We need to enable the Leads feature before diving into lead management. This is easily done by navigating to the Settings menu, selecting the Configuration tab, and then enabling the Leads option under the CRM section. Once activated, you’re ready to begin managing your leads efficiently.

A new Leads option will appear in the CRM menu bar when the Leads functionality is enabled. By selecting the Leads option, which shows a list of all the leads you have generated, you may begin generating leads. Here, you can see details like the company name, email, city, and assigned salesperson.

Just click the New button to add a new lead, which will open a new input form.

  1. Lead Information: In the Probability section, enter the anticipated success percentage and name your lead. Enter the prospective company’s details, including their address and contact information. Additionally, you may designate the language, the website, and the accountable salesman.
  2. Sales Team Assignment: Assign the lead to a certain sales team and include important contact information such as email, job title, and phone number,
  3. Lead Prioritization: You can prioritize leads using the Priority field (e.g., Medium, High, or Very High). Additionally, categorize leads by adding relevant tags to ensure better organization.

Internal Notes Tab

Use the Internal Notes section to add important details and insights, giving your team context to help manage the lead more effectively.

Extra Info Tab

In the Extra Info tab, you can plan your marketing strategy and analysis for the lead by selecting the appropriate Company, Campaign, Medium, Source of lead, Assignment Date, and Closed Date in the MARKETING and ANALYSIS tab sections. You can even record the referrer’s details to support marketing efforts, as you can see from the screenshot provided below.

Assigned Partner Tab

The Assigned Partner Tab in the lead creation form allows businesses to assign a specific salesperson or partner to manage each lead, ensuring accountability and personalized follow-up. This feature keeps leads from going unnoticed and promotes improved relationship-building with prospects. 

The system also provides Geolocation of the Assigned Partner, storing location-based data and other communication details for seamless coordination. The Automatic Assignment feature automatically allocates leads to registered partners or sales representatives based on predefined rules, reducing manual effort and ensuring leads are quickly attended to. The Send Email button allows users to send assignment-related emails directly to the designated partner or salesperson, promoting timely action and collaboration throughout the sales process.

Once the details are entered, your lead is securely saved in the Leads window.

Converting Leads to Opportunities

After configuring the Leads details, we can quickly generate Leads using the Convert to Opportunity button.

You have two choices in a new window that appears after conversion: Convert to Opportunity or Merge with existing Opportunities.  You can assign the opportunity to a Salesperson or Sales Team and, if needed, create a new customer or link the opportunity to an existing customer. As seen in the picture below, once the required information has been entered, click Create Opportunity to finish the process. 

The creation of the opportunity will create a new sales lead, and the Lead configuration form will show some new button options, including Meeting, Quotations, and Rentals, that can be used to create or track meetings quotations and rental options regarding this [particular sales lead as shown below.

If required, we can create new quotations or rental agreements using the New Quotations and New Rental buttons, respectively. The Won and Lost buttons can be used to mark the lead as won or lost according to the situation.

Lead Generation for multiple Leads

Odoo also allows us to quickly generate leads from the Leads menu. In Odoo 17 CRM, converting a lead to an opportunity is straightforward. Begin by selecting the lead from the Leads tab and clicking the Generate Leads button.

Then, press the Generate Leads button to proceed. This will open another pop-up window that can be used to filter the leads target according to the number of leads, Lead type, Countries, States, and Industries. Then, activate the Filter on Size option to filter the leads based on the size of the companies that can be provided according to your preference. Then, you can also mention the Sales Team, Salesperson, and Default Tags, as shown in the screenshot below.

Evaluating Leads with Data Analysis

Odoo 17 CRM provides powerful reporting features that make it easy to analyze your leads. The Leads menu in the Reporting tab offers visual representations of lead data, categorized by vibrant colors, to help you quickly assess performance.

Additionally, the Measures tool allows you to apply various metrics, such as Days to Assign, Days to Close, Expected MRR, and more. These insights are invaluable for optimizing your lead management process and enhancing business performance.

Overall, Odoo 17 CRM transforms lead management into a streamlined and efficient process. From identifying leads to nurturing and converting them, the platform provides the tools you need to build strong customer relationships and drive business growth.
